Testing, Testing… One, Two… One, Two.
The one good thing about us heading headlong off into the Technology and AI abyss ( can you tell that I am not that into it? )… is that personalised tests for both Home and our Health have come on leaps and bounds.
Health Testing
This year alone, I’ve watched personal testing levels go from “helpful” to “incredible”
From Gary Brecka’s new genetic tests to Lifecode GX panels and biological age diagnostics, the data revolution is officially here.
And thank goodness, because the last two years of perimenopause have been… character building to say the least. It’s not just about sex hormones bouncing all over the shop. Once they wobble, they drag everything else down with them. Systems that once behaved normally suddenly start going haywire.
Through advanced testing, I discovered a SNP on one of my methylation pathways called the Slow COMT. It sounds harmless ( and pretty much has been for most of my life) but paired with fluctuating hormones it meant disrupted sleep, new food intolerances and a body that suddenly refused to cooperate in ways it always had.
So I’ve had to shift my diet and lifestyle yet again, this time to support poor methylation, clear oestrogen more efficiently and stop histamine from keeping me up all night. It’s been a journey, but finally understanding what’s actually going on has given me back some control of my own body.
Home Testing
Healthy home diagnostics including air, water, light, mould, acoustics and energy tests have absolutely exploded this year. Testing companies are springing up everywhere offering niche expertise depending on what you’re trying to uncover.
Personally, I’ve never needed a machine to tell me a home is unhealthy.
My chemically sensitive body does that for me. Instant migraine, lips ballooning to twice their size… kind of gives it away!
But for those of you who aren’t walking barometers or who love to geek out on the data, the new testing tools are brilliant…. and pretty empowering.
I’ve begun collaborating with several testing companies this year, each with different strengths. If you want a free initial consultation on which testing route might be best for you, just reach out. I can guide you because they all differ.
Why Testing Matters for Both Bodies and Buildings
In the biohacking world, we always say: test, don’t guess.
It really is more economical to get testing done. It’s a waste of money spending out on loads of supplements if you haven’t actually tested to see what nutrients etc you might be deficient in. I have a supplement morgue to prove this. I have spent out far too much money on supplements I was convinced I needed, but have now found out through testing, that I don’t.. and now I can’t throw them away because they were too damn pricey.
It’s the same story for our homes.
If you don’t test, you’re essentially wandering around in the dark hoping your space is supporting your health. Sometimes it is, sometimes it’s quietly undermining it.
2025 has shown me one thing loud and clear: personalised data is no longer a luxury. It’s becoming a foundational part of both health and home wellbeing, and it’s helping us reclaim control in a world that feels increasingly chaotic.
Wishing you all lots of Festive Greetings, a Happy New Year.
